With a healthy nine albums under their cowhide belts and cowboy hats, the Hayseed Dixie's sound is very much in demand by bluegrass and rock n roll fans alike. As its name suggests, rockabilly draws on two primary influences: country music and rock music, which at the time of rockabilly’s emergence, largely referred to rhythm and blues (or R&B) music made by Black musicians. They call their unique merge of genres 'rockgrass' as it combines the recognisable riffs and beats of widely renowned rock songs using typical bluegrass instruments such as the banjo, mandolin and fiddle. Rockabilly is a subgenre of rock ‘n’ roll with roots in the American South during the 1950s. Their moniker is a tongue in cheek riff on the Deep South's pronunciation of hard rock goliaths AC/DC, and as self-confessed hillbillies, the band manage to stick to their classic American country routes while recreating versions of some of the most infamous guitar based music in the world.
